My life 7.12 + Fitness Survey

This morning I saw Brittany from My Own Balance answer this survey from She cooks, She crafts, She runs, and I thought it would be a fun way to share a little bit more about myself with you.

The Fitness Survey

1.  What did you eat for breakfast?

Today I had a banana pre-workout and a chocolate peanut butter protein shake post-workout.  I am addicted to this combo from my gym and it’s just for $4.89 for a medium shake with 40 grams of protein.

2.  How much water do you drink a day?

Uggh. I posted some tips for drinking more water yesterday, and my goals for this week are to down at least 64oz each day. BUT most of the time, I end up at around 40oz without trying too hard.

3.  What is your current favorite workout?

I am a lamo and don’t really have a set workout routine. I work out with my trainer 3x per week doing cross training and HILT style workouts. On my own, I work out around 1-2 additional times and just do some cardio. My favorite machine is the stepmill.

4.  How many calories do you eat a day?

Right now I completely stopped counting calories. It literally drives me insane to feel that I have to be so regimented. I literally counted calories for YEARS, and I spot check if I am having trouble reaching my goals. Whenever I spot check, I end up between 1200 and 1400 most days.

5.  What are your favorite healthy snacks?

I am obsessed with Trader Joe’s Organic Olive Oil Popcorn.

6.  What do you usually eat for lunch?

Recently, I’ve been having a mixed greens salad, vidalia onion dressing, a little bit of shredded parmesan cheese and some grilled chicken. Or whatever I had for dinner the night before.

7.  What is your favorite body part to strength train?

My booty! 🙂 I am kind of obsessed with “rounding out” that area.

8.  What is your least favorite body part to strength train?

My arms. I want to get super toned arms so I definitely train this area, but I feel like I get tired so much faster when I train my upper body.

9.  What are your “bad” food cravings?

best cookie brownie

Salt. Salt. Oh, and more salt. I really love potato chips, especially salt and vinegar pringles. When I am sad, I crave gooey sweets like the cookie brownies above that I made for the 4th of July BBQ at my house.

10.  Do you take vitamins or supplements?

I take a gummy multivitamin and a gummy fiber supplement. I also try to take biotin capsules as well, but I am not as consistent with that as I would like.

11.  How often do you eat out?

It really depends on the week. When I am lazy, I will grab a salad at work instead of making it, but I don’t really count that as eating out. I would guess maybe once or twice every 2 weeks.

12.  Do you eat fast food?

Occasionally, but not even close to a regular basis. When I do, it is generally for a breakfast sandwich.

13.  Who is your biggest supporter?

My trainer, James.  I honestly don’t think he is even aware of  this either. He is the only consistent motivator in my life when it comes to fitness. He is there come rain or come shine, and I feel that he genuinely cares about my success in my journey to wellness. As much as I hate waking up early, I am motivated to get to the gym when I know he will be training me OR if I know he is expecting to see me doing my cardio. James has honestly become a friend to me.

14.  Do you have a gym membership?

Yes indeed. I don’t really like at home workouts too much. I always seem to get distracted or embarrassed doing the moves while my husband is home.

15.  How many hours of sleep do you get a night?

I get a solid 7 hours of sleep on most nights.

16.  Do you have a “cheat” day?

Not really. I try to eat in moderation on a daily basis. If I really really want something, I will let myself have a small piece. Cheat days don’t really work for me anymore because I find it harder to get back on track afterwards and I turn the cheat day into a cheat week.

17.  Do you drink alcohol?

Occasionally, but since I started getting serious about losing weight, I stopped drinking on a regular basis. When I go out, I used to always order 1 drink, now I get water with lemon and take a sip of my husbands’ margarita. I have also become a light weight since I don’t drink as much, so I know I have to be careful.

18.  Do you have a workout buddy?

Not anymore. I used to work out with my coworker, but our schedules changed, so that hasn’t been happening. If I am not with my trainer, 90% of the time I am solo.  I do have a lot of friends at the gym though, so I see the same people every morning and we always chat a bit.

19.  What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?

I feel better about myself. Although I sometimes feel that I am reaching my goals at a snail’s pace, I am proud that I am actually making steps towards my goals. I have also noticed that the amount of food that I am able to consume is drastically less now.

20.  What is the last healthy thing you did?

I made sure that I didn’t leave my 32oz water bottle in the car when I walked into work.

21.  What are your favorite shoes to workout in?

Most of my workout shoes are Nikes, but recently I was given a pair of Reebok CrossFit sneakers and I love those.

22.  Photo of your favorite workout outfit.

Ellie Clothing Review

Right now I am OBSESSED with Ellie. Whoever thought of a monthly subscription to get gym clothes every month is a genius.

Now that you know a tad more about me, do we have anything in common?

  1. Omg, never heard of Ellie. I’ll have to check them out.

    • I really love their line! & If you subscribe it ends up being soooo much cheaper than just buying pieces individually.

    You are so fabulous!

I need to take from tips from you. I see that we have some things that we do in common.

Our workouts are similar and I usually try to consume the same amount of calories per day. I use to count but it drove me crazy. I allow myself cheat days. Or maybe I should say cheat meals on the weekend. I can use on meal of the day as a cheat on the weekends. Normally it’s dinner where I get to enjoy a glass or two of alcohol.

But seriously a new gym outfit monthly subscription is genius! I wish I thought of it 😉

Your lunch looks really good! I always struggle with lunch. I might steal yours.

I love your workout outfit! I too am loving my crossfit shoes but I think I need some new running shoes as well because the purple doesn’t match my outfits! Lol!

    • Anytime! & Thank you! It’s so easy. I can’t deal with too much more than this. lol

I have never had colorful sneakers, so I feel the same. BUT I am being a cheapo and rocking the sneakers with all of my outfits. My Nikes are grey, neon green, and blue…so I am a lost cause.
