Go Here: San Pedro, Belize [part 1]

A destination wedding that happened to fall on my birthday in a tropical place in Central America turned out to be just what I needed.

San Pedro, Belize.

I’ve heard of Belize for a very long time – and also received a bunch of snaps and texts throughout my stay from friends who are actually from Belize too. Little did I know, I have a bunch of friends who proudly call Belize home.

Early Wednesday morning, Kevin and I made the drive from New Jersey to Laguardia Airport in NYC. We had a connection in Miami, that landed us in Belize city by 10:30am. However, the wedding was in San Pedro, so we took a 90 minute boat ride to this part of the island.

Now this “water taxi” was less than desirable… imagine a boat jam packed with sweaty tourists and locals for 90 minutes with little ventilation. BUT it was cost-effective, so we gave it a go. On the way home, we opted for the 15 minute airplane trip instead.

The resort looked like a tropical rain forest with modern flairs.

I fell in love the moment we walked in the room.

We had an upgraded suite with the ocean view that was 110% worth the extra cash.

San Pedro is a much smaller part of Belize so everything was walkable. We had breakfast included every day in our package, so we had lunch and dinner to explore the island. I’m still downloading and organizing all of my pictures, but I wanted to share a few from the trip.

Later on I’ll share a few more details on the food, the wedding, and some of the excursions that we took. Kevin isn’t one to sit on the beach and sleep/read all day, so we had a healthy combination of activities, naps, and food.

Did I mention that I also caught the bouquet at the wedding too? If you follow me on SnapChat [@manifesturself], I shared videos and pictures everyday. I’m going to try and pull them together to create a mini – travel diary video for YouTube. But in the meantime, I hope ya’ll enjoyed your weekend!

This vaca was exactly what I needed to refuel my mind. Now it’s back to the grind.
