Allow me to reintroduce myself…

We haven’t talked in awhile.

And by talked – I mean we haven’t had a talk talk

Somewhere along my journey of changing Manifest Yourself from a blog into a business, I started to use this website/platform different. (A) I never would have called this site a platform when it launched in 2013. (B) I thought I should change the way I spoke with you here. It was less about sharing my story and much more about providing information, selling services, and communicating in a curated manner.

If you meet me IRL (in real life), ya’ll know that’s not me. I pride myself in being relatable and providing actionable career + leadership advice. I never claim that I’m perfect, but over the past year or so, I felt more pressure to only share the more perfect, curated moments of my life.

That’s super hard because most days aren’t perfect at all! So I don’t share much. I felt like I wasn’t able to share my day-to-day journey with you here because there was an unspoken expectation that I may not be able to live up to.

And then I had a light bulb moment. This is my platform. I created this to be a place where I’m able to share, and that’s what attracted people here in the first place. I changed my approach based upon self-imposed expectations, not because ya’ll changed what you wanted. I changed it to try and “fit in” to some unrealistic expectation.

And I’m changing that; among other things!

What makes me happy is bringing my online connections into my real life. That’s why I launched The Empowerment Social in 2017 with my husband and the Stop Dreaming & Start Planning workshops in 2016.

I was trying to “scale” faster, so then I added online coaching and services too. But I still craved in person connections with y’all.

So – I’m going back to what makes me happy by doing a few things:

  • Blogging how I want, when I want. Sometimes I’ll provide actionable advice and other times I’ll just connect with you to share what’s been going on in my life in hopes that I may be able to assist you.
  • More live events and experiences so we can meet each other. I’m a natural teacher and while I totally get that in this digital age people LOVE to teach online – I still love to teach in person. I’m planning something special for the first weekend in June…I’ll share more details soon.
  • And most importantly, I’m removing any and all self-imposed expectations that I’ve put on myself about how I’m “supposed” to run things over here.

I hope this makes sense to you. This site is called Manifest Yourself because I truly believe that you (and I) have the power to manifest the lives we desire. Many times we may get off track or sidetracked, but as long as we acknowledge the misstep and get back on the “good foot” – that’s all that matters.

So cheers to getting back to me, and back to manifesting the life I desire.

  1. Love your post. It’s so important to get back to basics at time. In this age we are all striving to fit in and find our niche. But it’s really all about being yourself and letting things unfold organically
