I am still overwhelmed by the success of The inaugural Empowerment Social. What I’ve learned is that many millennial professionals do not have dedicated personal and professional development in their 9-5 jobs. Many jobs don’t have the funds to send employees to outside trainings, and many people just don’t know who or even what to ask for when they need training.
And to put things bluntly… personal and professional development doesn’t sound sexy BUT day parties do, so we set the stage with a DJ, lots of food, and $5 cocktails.
We had over 147 professionals purchase tickets for the event on Saturday, July 15, 2017 to hear the four Empowerment Talks and shop with vendors.
More than anything, I am so impressed by the caliber of the professionals in the room. We had attendees representing over 16 different industries with the average attendee being 32 years old.
Here are some of the highlights below:
A delicious brunch buffet from our venue, MIST Harlem on 116th and Lenox Ave in New York City.
We were able to create an environment where minority professionals were able to have fun, but also learn something that they will be able to immediately apply to their lives. This event proves that you’re able to come to an event and be yourself AND network with likeminded professionals.
Our speakers told their personal stories and gave attendees actionable tips so they can do more, be more, and achieve more in their lives and careers.
And it goes without saying, but none of this would be possible without our sponsors, National Sales Network of NY/NJ and Jopwell. I’ve supported both organizations for the past few years and I was so grateful that they decided to support this inaugural event.
National Sales Network supports sales professionals across several industries. They’ve thrown incredible workshops, trainings, and networking events over the past few years in New York and New Jersey. Members of the board attended TES to chat with attendees about job opportunities in sales – they even brought recruiters with them too!
Jopwell is the leading diversity recruiting platform for minority professionals. They cultivate job/internship opportunities and career advancement content to empower underrepresented ethnic minority professionals and students to successfully navigate their careers. They were onsite providing information on signing up for their FREE platform.
I cannot wait to host this event again in June 2018. If you’re interested in learning more, please be sure to sign up for the mailing list so you’ll be the first to know about future events.
