I hope you had a fabulous weekend! Since yesterday was a holiday, I gave myself a little blogging break to recoup and relax sans internet. And my-oh-my did it feel good. I think I am probably the last person to recap AHU, but better late than never right?
This day went off without a single hitch, and I couldn’t be more grateful! We sold out the Tuesday before, so we had a packed house of 70+ guests ready to learn how to integrate wellness, fitness, mindfulness, and healthy eating strategies into their busy lives.
The day started out with breakfast from Oatworks. This was honestly my first time trying this smoothie and I LOVED it. Super quick, easy, and nutritious.
One thing that we did not plan for was having such an abundance of food throughout the day. For a mere $25 we provided breakfast, an array of healthy snacks throughout the day, and boxed lunches from Panera. Seriously? You really got your bang for your buck with this ticket… and I am pretty sure that this helped us set the bar pretty high for next year.
The first panel of the day was focused on the mind body connection. I had such a great time moderating this panel too! I swear you would have thought that they all knew each other because the chemistry was great! At the end, we opened up the floor for questions and we got Matthew (the stud in the yellow) to do a brief HIIT workout demonstration… if you weren’t there, I will just fill you in and say that the ladies were VERY excited about his demo. lol
The second panel was all about healthy eating. This is an area that so many people had questions about. The panelists were super open and honest too. Nothing is worse than listening to a healthy eating panel where they tell you to exercise, eat right, and that’s it. They acknowledged the struggles and offered solutions.
Also, something unique that happened during both panels was that the audience members naturally began to answer questions for each other. There was such a feeling of camaraderie in the room.
After the panels, all of the participants got to choose between 2 classes. Yoga sponsored by Studio Anya, our venue, and Zumba by Nellie.
Whether you liked a more zen-like experience, or if you wanted to shake what yo momma gave you, you definitely got a great workout in before we chowed down for lunch.
Overall, the event was really a major success! I am so happy that I had the opportunity to partner with Cass and Nellie to host this event…and it definitely won’t be the last. We are already planning for AHU 2015! Gotta keep up the momentum!
As we plan for next year, what would you love to see at a wellness conference? Any specific topics that you like to hear about?
Special thanks to all of you who made it into NYC for the day AND those of you who supported from where you are. Hope to see you next year! xo
